Little Orphan Girl & Promises

The Firebirds – Little Orphan Girl

Well, ooohhh, little girl

Last week I was lonely
So I walked down to the park
There I met a little orphan girl
Who was crying in the dark

So I said, “Come, come, come, come with me
My little orphan girl
Forget the past and the tears you’ve known
Little orphan girl, my heart is your own”

Yeah, ooohhhh, my little girl

Her clothes were torn and dirty
And she said she had no home
Her mom and dad had passed away
And they left her all alone

So I said, “Come, come, come, come with me
I love you, little orphan girl
Forget the past and the tears you´ve known
Little orphan girl, my heart is your own”

We fell in love but she couldn’t stay
Her mad folks said that we were too young
Too young to get married
So one night she ran away

But I’ll always love her
Every day I’ll say a prayer
That one night I’ll pass the park
And I´ll find her waiting there

And I’ve said, “Come, come, come, come with me
I love you, little orphan girl
Forget the past and the tears you’ve known
Little orphan girl, my heart is your own”

Well, ooooohhhhh, my little girl

The Penguins – Promises, promises, promises

How can I believe
That you won’t be seen
All I get from you
Are words that don’t come true

All the words I hear
Go into my ear
But you never, hardly ever
Make them through, my dear

Stop making promises, promises, promises
That’s all I get from you
I can’t believe your promises
They never do come true

Don’t make me promises, promises, promises
Although they’re nice to hear
Stop making all those promises
If you don’t mean them, dear
